Name a Star for Someone
As a little girl, I was always fascinated by the stars. I remember my daddy taking me outside on cold winter nights when the sky was clear and the stars were bright and white. I hated the cold, but I loved my dad. And when he went out of his way to take time out of his busy schedule and teach me something cool, I was all ears. It didn't matter if I didn't totally understand it. I was a blank slate, and I wanted to absorb everything he was teaching me.
I was fascinated with how the stars were parts of constellations named after mysterious Greek gods, goddesses, and creatures of legend. I remember learning how to pronounce all of the names of these gods, wondering what they were really like and if they ever actually existed. And I also tried hard to pronounce the name of each individual star. My daddy worked as a navigator once while flying in airplanes for the military, so he had learned all about star charts and star maps.
Later on as I got older, I retained my fascination with space and the sky. When I heard that you could name a star for someone, my ears instantly perked up. I had known that you could buy a star or adopt a star, but I wasn't quite sure how you could go about it.
I learned that you can name a star for someone by registering your star with the International Star Registry. They've been helping people adopt stars for over 20 years, and they are world-reknowned for the beautiful star charts and unique gift packages they send you when you buy a star.
There are many occasions when naming a star for someone might be fun. What if you have fallen in love with someone and you want your honey to know you really adore him or her? Instead of wasting money on some small trinket that will only end up gathering dust in a closet somewhere, thinking about naming a star for your sweetheart and presenting the special star kit you receive over a romantic dinner by candelight.
Or you could name a star after someone like a beloved teacher, mentor, minister, therapist, or coach. There are so many people who help us grow into adulthood and provide key points in our learning and development. I recently got together with one of my high school teachers and let him know how much he had always meant to me and what a huge, positive impact he had on me. But I'm thinking about naming a star in his honor to show him I REALLY mean it! I think he'll love it.
The star chart and fun star package you receive when you name a star for someone are really beautiful. They inspire imagination and they carry a feeling of exclusivity and luxury to them. The design of the star package is truly lovely.
Buying a star is also nice if there is somebody on your gift list who already has lots of stuff, and yet you want to find a gift that carries a true feeling of appreciation and affection with it. Maybe your mother doesn't really need any more jewelry or collectibles, but she'd love to have something eternal, like a star, named in her honor.
There are lots of occasions when it might be fun to name a star for someone.
